This is an old-fashioned outlet for opinions. The inspiration was Sydney’s version of Speaker’s Corner (in London) in the Domain. That location near the Art Gallery is nowhere near as interesting now as it was back in the days of left-wing unions and Catholic-Protestant sectarianism, but perhaps we are a less-committed generation. Shame. Opinions should be voiced, even if mildly offensive to some, because free speech guarantees at least a minimum level of democracy. It’s what the internet is made for.
